Welcome to Help From a Geek! My name is Jerry Voelker and I am here to help you solve your technology problems! This site provides a free, friendly means for you to get help fixing your computer. As technology has become pervasive in our lives, it has also grown much more complex. Want help cleaning up a virus? Sure, we can do that. We can also take it a step further by teaching you some safe computing habits in order to prevent this from happening again. I offer advice relating to what a geek might do in your situation, and through my recommendations of free software, sound computing practices, and more technology related information than you can shake a stick at, we can bring out your inner geek! I started this site as a means to answer specific questions posed to me, and that still remains a large factor of what this site is about. Whether its college or high school, technology has permeated education. Just as you used to have to peruse a list that included pencils, crayons, notebooks, and binders (and has become insanely long...) you are faced with a similar-and alot more expensive-list when your child heads off to school. There are a thousand things to worry about when your child moves away for school, and technology shouldn't be one of them.
