how to resize images

If you need to resize and crop your photos for the web, where do you turn? There are countless programs out there that will do this for you, but which one should you use? If you want simple control and a familiar interface, then I recommend that you download Windows Live Photo Gallery. Once you have downloaded and installed the program, the steps are easy.

  • Select the photo you wish to resize/crop. Right-click and choose open with Windows Live Photo Gallery
  • Along the top, you will see the button called Fix. Select that, and you can make adjustments to the photo, as well as crop the photo. These options will be along the right hand side.
  • Once you have your photo fixed up and cropped how you like it, now you can get to making it the size that you want it. For this, I suggest that you use Image Resizer from Microsoft (it will be along the right hand side of the page, near the bottom). It is probably the easiest way to resize photos available.
  • Open the folder with the pictures that you want to resize. Right-click any picture that you want to resize, and click Resize Pictures.
  • You will be given an option to choose from among some standard sizes, and you can use those if you wish. Otherwise, you can select the Advanced button and choose a custom size.
  • The nice thing about this program (other than it is free!) is that it doesn't eliminate your original pictures!
